Paul and Sam's Kitchen in Tweed Heads

Paul and Sam wanted a cleaner more usable modern look to their kitchen area but had a strict budget to work with.

On initial consultation we identified that the existing carcasses were in good condition so a substantial cost saving could be made by leaving these in situ and carrying out some remodelling to achieve the result they were looking for.

We altered the pantry opening to make the contents more accessible , remodelled the oven tower to place the oven at a more user friendly height , create space below for 2 large pot drawers and hide the microwave in the cupboard above while not in use.

The small angled wall shelf unit was removed and replaced with another cupboard and a new cupboard fitted above the fridge to gain some extra storage space.

We removed the raised bench top and fitted a large bench top to open up the area , create the impression of more space and create a breakfast bar.

The angled section to the front of the bench top was removed and a square cupboard fitted opening into the open plan lounge area to create more bench top area and gain more storage space .

All doors , drawer fronts and dress panels were removed and replaced with high gloss white handleless panels with push to open mechanisms fitted to all doors and drawers to create a clean unbroken modern look.

New bench tops were fitted in a polished concrete effect laminate finish with a stylish black sink and tap ware and black feature pendant lighting fitted to complete the modern look and finally a mirrored splash back was fitted to further enhance the impression of space.

We Then Turned Our Attention To Their Bathroom

The existing bathroom is quite small and with it being the only bathroom for a family of four it was important that the best use possible was made of the available area while freshening and updating the look.

The entire bathroom was removed including all tiling to floor and walls , cornice , vanity , bath, hob and shower cubicle.

Plumbing was altered to accomodate new shower and all wall sheeting was removed , replaced and plastered square set to allow for full height wall tiling with a feature niche created in the rear wall of the shower recess..

Entire area was waterproofed , screeded to correct falls and completely re-tiled.

New inset bath was fitted with a tiled surround to create some space for candles, soaps etc instead of using the window ledge and a semi-frameless shower screen fitted to utilise the whole space left at the bottom of the bath.

A custom vanity with mirrored cabinet above was fitted to fully utilise all the space between bath and wall and provide some much needed storage and drawer space for Sam.

The result was a fresh uncluttered area with all available floorspace put to good use.

Cate's Kitchen in Kingscliff

This kitchen is in a small 2 bed 2nd floor apartment overlooking the beachfront at Kingscliff and our brief was not only to freshen and modernise the very dated kitchen but to open up and create more space in what was a very cramped kitchen area.

To that end we proposed removing the wall separating the kitchen and lounge areas to create an open plan kitchen , dining and lounge area and enable us to create an island bench to give more storage and bench top space.

The hot water pipework for the sink and also electrical cabling for the kitchen , dining and lounge lights were run through this wall so we created a bulkhead above the new island bench which served multiple functions firstly to allow us to conceal the pipework and wiring but also to create a feature and allow for additional lighting above the island.

We then installed the new kitchen , custom built to utilise all the available floorspace and accomodate the new appliances correctly.

The gloss white finish to the cupboards , caesarstone bench tops and contrasting grey subway tiles to the splash back completed the look of the kitchen and new vinyl plank flooring running through to the open plan area completed the transformation.

Thelma's Bathroom and En-Suite in Mermaid Waters

This renovation involved the complete removal of both the main bathroom and the en-suite in an apartment in Mermaid waters , this was quite challenging as the apartment was on the third floor with no lift ! so our guys never had to go to the gym during this job :-)

Thelma moved out for the duration of the work so we were able to work on both bathrooms at the same time which certainly helped to speed up the process.

While removing the old bathrooms we discovered there was no waterproofing whatsoever in any of the wet areas so this renovation was well overdue.

We fully waterproofed the main bathroom and retiled the entire floor , the walls full height in the shower recess and fitted skirting tiles around the perimeter.

A single glass screen was fitted to form an open shower recess , new toilet suite fitted and a new custom vanity fitted to fill the wall space where the old vanity had been.

The en-suite originally had a bath with a shower over but after fully waterproofing this area was tiled full height and a shower recess created with no bath.

The original vanity was removed and refitted after the tiling works to the floor  were complete.
